Bayimba International Festival 2018 - 2022

In May 2018, after our initial presentation at the Doa Doa market, we were invited and funded to deliver an audiovisual production at the Bayimba International Festival in August 2018.

We accepted the challenge which led us to create a team made up of a collective of young Congolese & Ugandan creatives from Afrika Arts Kollective - and young artists from Scotland.

The production took place over a 3 week period in Uganda. In all, a team of 30 young people - supervised in partnership with the team from Bayimba Foundation - creating an "in situ" training - focusing on the logistical and operational reality of the production of such artistic events.

The project consists of creating an art-trail (installation - land art) through the island of Lunkulu , as well as managing the stage created on Bukunja beach - by hosting and facilitating a 3-day audiovisual programme (DJ / VJ - dance performance).

Alongside the presentation of JustaHub at the Doa Doa market 2018 - which is aimed primarily at professionals in the performing and performing arts in East Africa - we produced an event and held workshops to share with young creators the joys of audiovisual production.

In collaboration with the technical team of Doa Doa, We also proposed a live, improvised recording workshop open to all artists invited to Doa Doa as performers. They were given the opportunity to collaborate and produce one or two recordings with the option to release on the European market through Doa Doa Market and JustaHub Recordings.

Of particular interest to the panel during the presentation was the idea of a production site linked to a mobile studio equipped with solar panels to cater for artistic and community projects in East Africa, where the lack of infrastructure required for multimedia work could prove to be problematic.
